Module 6

Promoting sustainable food literacy among people with mild intellectual disabilities or other conditions of social exclusion

The module introduces the concept of sustainable food literacy as a tool for empowerment, inclusion, and wellbeing. It has been designed with a focus on people with mild intellectual disabilities and other groups at risk of social exclusion, aiming to make knowledge about food systems, healthy eating, and sustainability both accessible and practical. Through engaging video-based learning, the module explores how food choices impact personal health, community life, and the environment. It combines simple explanations with real-life examples to encourage autonomy, participation, and connection with local sustainable initiatives.

By the end of the module, participants are better equipped to understand where food comes from, make healthier and more sustainable choices, and appreciate how inclusive approaches to food can strengthen both individual independence and social bonds.
